HOT AIR

The first comprehensive monograph surveying the work of Egyptian-born, Melbourne-based artist Raafat Ishak.

Arranged in discreet thematic sections, this non-chronological book will consider Ishak’s practice through the confluence of ideas, motifs and systems that define his sophisticated and complex visual language. Each section features extensive documentation, including unseen works and reference imagery, alongside new essays by Melissa Keys, Lisa Radford, Stephen Zagala, and Robert Schubert.

With a major solo exhibition at Heide Museum of Modern Art in 2023, and the unveiling of a permanent large-scale installation at Melbourne’s new Anzac Station scheduled for 2025, this monograph is a timely addition to Ishak’s oeuvre.
