Vivienne Binns’ work Laura (Lowe) Wilkinson and Harriet (Chatwin) Lowe (1975-76) is included in the National Gallery of Victoria’s exhibition MOTHER currently on show at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia.
Emerging through a collaborative and distinctly experimental approach to practice, this iconic example of her vitreous enamel silkscreens on steel depicts the artist’s grandmother and great-grandmother, reflecting the artists commitment to revealing stories of women often absent from archival and art historical records.
