Nicholas Mangan included in the 18th Lyon Biennial of Contemporary Art

Held every two years since 1991, the Lyon Biennial is among Europe’s leading platforms for contemporary art. Curated by Catherine Nichols, this year’s edition, To pass from one dream to another, brings together artists from around the world to explore transition, exchange and the unconscious.

Mangan’s presentation at Les Grandes Locos includes sculptural works from his acclaimed Termite Economies series alongside a new filmic work, The Current (2026). The film explores relationships between nature, value, and extinction through the story of the Tevau, a traditional feather currency from the Solomon Islands, and a taxidermied honeyeater held in the archives of Lyon’s Musée des Confluences.
