We are thrilled to share Nicholas Mangan’s inclusion in the upcoming exhibition at TarraWarra Museum of Art, TarraWarra International 2026: System Release.
Mangan’s celebrated work A World Undone (2012) will be on show alongside nine artists from Aotearoa/New Zealand, Australia and Mexico, each of whom employ diverse approaches to artistic practice as a means to reach into the chaos of global precarity and create new systems of order. Loaned from the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) collection, Mangan’s uncanny film delves into both deep time and the human impacts of mining by depicting the microscopic degradation of a Zircon crystal, a 4,400 Million year old mineral that had been unearthed within some of the earth’s earliest crust in Western Australia’s extremely remote Jack Hills.
Curated by Dr. Emily Cormack, the TarraWarra International is a flagship biennial exhibition series committed to promoting rigorous curatorial research, ambitious new commissions and providing audiences with accessible, thought‑provoking encounters with important works by leading Australian and international artists.
