“I am grateful to Sutton Gallery for granting me the opportunity to make and present the exhibition obscene and ferocious figure.
The gallery’s proposal that I make an exhibition in this space prompted the idea of an exhibition of one painting, which for me is an ideal exhibition form.
Those who have some knowledge of psychoanalysis might recognise the title of the exhibition, a phrase used repeatedly by Lacan to describe the super ego, the problematic agency which is familiar to us as our (good) conscience”
