George Egerton-Warburton Coma

29 June –
27 July 2019

Coma is Egerton-Warburton’s second solo exhibition with Sutton Gallery and opens concurrently with his solo exhibition at Heide Museum of Modern Art, clandestinely titled “,”. Coma references both the incorrect spelling of comma and a state of prolonged inertia. It is also a lamentation of the museum’s hesitation to publish the show’s title. For both exhibitions, the artist was considering the moment of non-compliance in the mental process of interpretation, the moment before we obey language.

Continuing his engagement with the syntax of conceptual art, the paintings, sculptures and text created for Coma and “,” explore dualistic notions of the symptomatic, being under the influence and intoxication.
